Here is my crack at it:

https://github.com/jonnay/emag...

Re: How to present using Org-mode in Emacs

I have played with the =orgmode-slideshow= solution for non-beamer presentations, which wraps the HTML export with only minimal changes, as an alternative to S5 and I find it great, so far.

By commenting out some code, it allows to customize some keys behaviour in the JS so that up and down still scroll up/down the slide contents, which allows big bullet lists in slides ;-)

See the docs at http://orgmode.org/worg/org-tu...

I have used org-beamer a lot until now, but I think the HTML export + JS + CSS will be a useful option too.

Re: Thinking about what I want to do and where I want to go with this blog

Actually the left side of the things in the What I don't want group will just happen naturally and it's fine. Though I am using it for experimentation purposes as well to see people's behaviours for fun.

I think it's better to say "what I am not focusing on" rather than "what I don't want". As far as monetization goes, I don't think of it as a bad thing, I actually think of it as another way of seeing behavior patterns, I think I'd get maybe $1 per year on my blog which means the blog needs 100 years of operation before I'd get a paycheck from it. :D

I like that you're expanding on your media choices, I still limited myself to text for now because that is the one I am most comfortable with. Though drawings may come next albeit more mechanical like SVG and UML just because that's my personality.

Also as a habit of mine, I like linking my posts together a lot. I like seeing relationships between my ideas of the day. Eventually I will find a plug-in that shows (posts that link here). So my blog would end up more like a wiki in that there'd be a rich amount of links and probably find a way of visualizing it into a graph because I'm such a nerd when it comes to those things :D

Re: Thinking about what I want to do and where I want to go with this blog

I like that. =) I've got the unusual position of not having income pressure, so I'm glad I can make good stuff and give it away for free. Maybe the next step is more like building a place where I can float ideas for blog posts and experiments, and find out what other people are interested in. There's so much to share and so much to explore, so being able to consider other people's interests (and questions!) may help me prioritize better.

Re: How to Learn Emacs: A Hand-drawn One-pager for Beginners

Yeap, I had to get all above summarized through (and much more) when starting with emacs. Once in a while someone posts about Emacs, and I get tempted again to play with the devil. When two three days passes, I find I can't do something, and I even don't bother looking it up. Good work. Succinct intro for beginners. However, It will be nice to have another one pager organized by the most frequently used commands. BTW, what did you use to create this one pager? It is really done very well. As one of your less code savvy followers, this has prompted me to go a step or two back off the page from where you started and learn a bit about text editors in general. So I receive it as a pure form of self-expression and an altruistic willingness to help others -- like a flower in a harsh land. And I agree with Trevor's comment, "Money changes how people interact with you."

But I also think you're entitled to monetary reward. Hmmm, not sure how to reconcile the two. Perhaps by allowing for donations on a totally separate site, such as philanthropy.org* with a subtle link to your membership page, on which you might present yourself as both a benefactor (which you most certainly are) and a recipient.

You could add a "store" tab to your site. Your product list could include your e-book(s), poster-size hardcopies of sketchnotes, plus consulting services.

Thank you for including me in your list of amazing conversations! It has been amazing!

* This is not an endorsement of the site. I'm not really familiar with it.

Re: How to Learn Emacs: A Hand-drawn One-pager for Beginners

Hilarity! =) Glad it helped. This 13-year user didn't know about C-h w <command>. I would always invoke M-x <command> and then stare at the mini buffer for the brief message that says what keystroke (if any) it's bound to.

Undo was on my short list of must-have text editor features. So it was one of the first things I looked up, and I used it often. But I learned the C-x u keystroke, not C-/, even though the latter is shown on the reference card.

I appreciate the vim help. Sometimes it's all there is. Besides it's hilariously funny! :)
